Join The Neighborhood Homework Club For Elementary School Students
Monday and Thursday evenings in West Newton. Grades 1-3: 5:30-6:30 p.m. Grades 4-5: 7:00-8:00 p.m. $25.00 per session. Your child will learn to build independent work habits, gain responsibility for homework assignments and feel successful while completing homework. We will provide successful strategies to enhance academic achievement, review, re-teach and extend classroom skills. Drawing Class
for those starting out and those who want to expand their skills: Visual artist with 20 years teaching experience, Joan Mullen is offering two fall drawing classes in her home studio in Newton Corner. Under her guidance you will develop your drawing skills, your powers of observation and your ability to communicate visually, through sequential guided instruction. She has taught at the DeCordova Museum School, The Boston Museum of Fine Arts School, The Fuller Craft Museum and the Danforth Museum School. She is an Adjunct Professor at Bridgewater State College, where she has taught all levels of drawing and three dimensional design. Class size will be limited. Drawing Class #1 is on 8 Monday evenings 7:00-9:30, October 17th-December 8th (no class on 10-31st). Drawing Class #2 is on 8 Friday mornings 9:00 am - 11:30 am, October 21 -December 16th (no class on 11-25th) Cost for the 8 classes is $250.00 which includes all drawing supplies and a portfolio. * Coached Newton Athletic Association basketball for 3 years (won 2 championships)
* Played 3 years of NSHS basketball, and 8 years of NAA basketball
* Practiced teacher in multiple settings (HIV educator in Tanzania, English teacher in Ecuador, discussion leader at LA County juvenile detention center, natural history day camp instructor in Wellfleet)
* Child and infant CPR, and First Aid certified
